Gujarat Titans' captain Shubman Gill suffered a minor back spasm during their last match against the Rajasthan Royals, which led to his substitution. Rashid Khan stepped in as the stand-in captain in Gill's absence.
Gill confirmed the back spasm during the post-match presentation when asked about his absence on the field. He stated,
“I felt a little back spasm in my back, and since we have a game coming up in a couple of days, the physio didn't want to take any chances.”

“There was a bit of a back spasm. We’re just trying to be careful with it. He'll be at training today, and we’ll see where he’s at. We're reasonably confident that he's going to be okay.”

Tonight, Shubman Gill and the Gujarat Titans will face off against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Despite some recent losses, the Gujarat Titans are in a favorable position to qualify for the playoffs, currently holding 12 points from six wins.
Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad are looking for one last push, as they have only a slim chance of making it to the playoffs. A loss tonight would end their campaign, making them the third team to be eliminated from IPL 2025, joining Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals.
