RCB Fans Lament "Bad Luck" as IPL 2025 Comes to Halt Amid India-Pakistan Tensions

In a recent development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the suspension of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) for one week on Friday due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

The decision, which has sent shockwaves through the cricketing world, has hit Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) supporters particularly hard, with many labeling their beloved team as "cursed," since they were one of the top contenders to lift the trophy. The BCCI’s official statement, released earlier today, confirmed the suspension of the IPL 2025 for one week, with further updates on the schedule and venues to follow after a thorough review.

The move comes in the wake of a disrupted match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Dharamsala, where players, support staff, and fans were evacuated due to security concerns. This was in response to heightened security concerns following Pakistan’s missile and drone attacks on Indian cities, including Jammu, Amritsar, Jaisalmer, etc. Indian defense forces, using S-400 air defense systems, intercepted at least eight missiles and neutralized drones, reporting no casualties.

RCB Fans Express Disappointment as IPL 2025 Gets Suspended

For RCB, the suspension feels like a cruel twist of fate. The franchise, which has never lifted the IPL trophy, was doing well in the now-suspended season. Rajat Patidar and Co. have won eight of their 11 matches, securing second spot on the IPL 2025 points table up until the suspension.

RCB’s loyal supporters, known for their unwavering passion, now face another season of uncertainty. Their fans are wondering if the team will continue with the same form when the season resumes.

While most of the RCB fans agreed with the BCCI's decision, some took to social media to express their anguish. Here are a few tweets:

When Could IPL 2025 Resume?

The IPL 2025 season, which kicked off on March 22 with 10 teams competing in a 74-match schedule, was originally set to conclude on May 25. With 16 matches still pending, the tournament will resume after a week.

Although the BCCI has not announced a specific timeline for resumption, a potential window in August or September could be explored if the IPL remains on hold beyond the initial one-week pause. However, this timeframe may clash with India’s planned tour of Bangladesh and the Asia Cup, both of which are now uncertain due to the ongoing India-Pakistan tensions and deteriorating diplomatic ties with Bangladesh.
