Ravindra Jadeja has etched his name in history by holding the No. 1 spot in the ICC Test rankings for all-rounders for a record 1,153 days — a streak that began in 2022.
Jadeja’s Cryptic Post Sparks Retirement Rumors
Amid this achievement, Jadeja shared a cryptic Instagram story featuring a photo of himself in Test whites, along with a thank-you note to his fans. The post instantly sparked buzz across social media, with many fans speculating whether the star all-rounder was hinting at retirement from Test cricket — especially in the wake of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli stepping away from the format.

However, there’s no real cause for concern. According to reports, Jadeja’s post was simply in response to the flood of congratulatory messages he received for his incredible ranking milestone — not a sign of him bidding farewell to red-ball cricket.
At 36, Jadeja remains a vital cog in India’s Test setup. As the team gears up for a challenging tour of England in June, his experience and all-round prowess will be key. If selected, he’ll be the oldest member in the squad, bringing leadership and balance to the playing XI.

Jadeja Gets Captaincy Nod from Ashwin
Ravindra Jadeja was also endorsed as a potential captain of the Indian team by his long-time bowling partner, Ravichandran Ashwin. Speaking on his YouTube channel Ash ki Baat, Ashwin said that if not Jasprit Bumrah, he would have preferred Jadeja to lead the Indian side.
“I am very, very upset and disappointed that Jasprit Bumrah will not get the captaincy of India. I think he is a national treasure,” Ashwin stated.
“There are obvious choices, but I want to throw in another name as well — Ravindra Jadeja,” he added.

Jadeja’s impressive Test career spans over 80 matches, during which he has scored 3,370 runs and taken 323 wickets. This makes him the highest wicket-taker in the current Indian Test team and places him 5th overall on the list of India’s highest wicket-takers in Test cricket history.
