PCB Silent as PSL X Players Wait for Pending Salaries

Summary

Players are waiting for the remaining 30 per cent of their salaries to be released as teams have not submitted their final accounts after PSL 2025.

PCB Silent as PSL X Players Wait for Pending Salaries

The Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) tenth edition was billed as the most successful season yet by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), but the newly surfaced financial details tell a slightly different story. The league certainly made good money overall, yet a few old problems have not gone away.

As per a report by senior journalist Saleem Khaliq, each franchise is set to earn PKR 97 crore (970 million) from the central revenue pool. This amount comes from the league’s broadcasting rights, sponsorships, and other shared deals.

However, once player salaries, travel and hotel costs are deducted, not every team will be in profit. Most franchises are expected to earn money, but Multan Sultans are likely to post another loss. They pay more than PKR 1 billion annually as a franchise fee and with a poor season on the field, that burden has only grown. Owner Ali Tareen is said to have raised this issue with the PCB.

Player Payments Still Pending

The PCB has already met with the franchises to review PSL X’s finances but it has not yet made the full numbers public. Some teams have still not submitted their final accounts, which has also delayed the last round of payments.

Players are waiting for the remaining 30 per cent of their salaries to be released. This is not the first time there has been a delay but the issue has dragged on longer this season and is causing frustration. Notably, PSL 2025 was halted midway but resumed later.

What It Means for PSL’s Future?

The PSL is now heading into a new cycle of broadcast and franchise agreements for the next ten years. The numbers from PSL X are expected to play a big role in these talks.

The late payments and unresolved accounts show that there are areas where the PCB needs to tighten its management. With bigger deals on the horizon, franchises want a clearer plan so that the league can continue to grow without the same issues repeating every year.
