Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been named the ICC Player of the Month for August, thanks to his stellar performance in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, where he took 23 wickets across 5 matches, becoming the leading wicket-taker of the series.

Siraj’s Match-Winning Spell Earns Him ICC Player of the Month Award

Siraj’s spell was decisive for India in the final Test, with a match-winning 5/33 in London that helped India draw the historic series. After receiving the Player of the Month award, he expressed his delight and dedicated the honor to his teammates and support staff for helping him deliver those magical spells in England.

“It is a special honour to be named ICC Player of the Month. The Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy was a memorable series, and one of the most intense contests I have been part of. I am proud to have contributed with important spells, especially at crucial moments.. Bowling against a top batting line-up in their home conditions was challenging, but it also brought out the best in me.
“This award belongs as much to my teammates and the support staff as it does to me, because their constant encouragement and belief kept me going. I will continue to work hard and give my best every time I wear the India jersey.”

Orla Pendergast Shines with Bat and Ball, Clinches ICC Player of the Month Award

Meanwhile, Orla Pendergast of the Irish women’s team won the Player of the Month award for her exceptional performances against Pakistan during the 3-match home series. Trailing 1-0 after the first T20I, her stellar showings in the remaining matches helped Ireland come back to win the series.

She scored 144 runs and took four wickets in the Pakistan series, then carried her excellent form into the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier, amassing 244 runs and claiming seven wickets in August.

“I’m delighted to receive this award and would like to thank the ICC and everyone who voted for me. I also want to acknowledge my teammates and support staff, who have worked hard all summer to secure some important series wins,” she said.

Pendergast further highlighted that Visibility and recognition help the women’s game grow, and she appreciates the ICC’s role in that.

“Visibility is so important in growing interest and participation in the sport, and awards like this help reinforce the growing status of the women’s game globally. I’d like to thank the ICC for continuing to support women’s cricket and raise the profile of women cricketers worldwide,” she added.
