BCCI Announce India Women's Squad For Upcoming Tri-Nation ODI Series Involving Sri Lanka, South Africa

The BCCI has announced the Indian women's squad for the upcoming ODI Tri-series between India, Sri Lanka and South Africa women on April 8, 2025.

The matches will be played in Sri Lanka's R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. The series will start on April 27, with every team playing four matches each. The top two teams will play the final on May 11.

Harmanpreet Kaur is back to lead the Indian women's squad after leading the Mumbai Indians Women to their second WPL title recently. She is the most experienced player in the side and has the most ODI caps to her name in the current squad as well.

Harmanpreet Kaur To Lead, Smriti Mandhana Named Her Deputy

Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the side with Smriti Mandhana as the vice-captain. Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh (WK), Yastika Bhatia (WK), and Deepti Sharma form the core of the side. All of them played in the recently concluded WPL 2025. Renuka Singh Thakur & Titas Sadhu were injured and were not considered for the selection.

Meanwhile, among the notable exclusions from the squad are Pooja Vastrakar and top-order batter Shafali Verma. Verma had an opportunity to make a comeback in the Indian team courtesy of a good performance in the WPL, but she could not. She scored 304 runs at an average of 38.00 and a strike rate just over 150. She was inconsistent throughout the tournament, which is one of the major reasons behind her continuous exit from the national team.

One of the notable inclusions in the squad was pace bowling all-rounder Kashvee Gautam. She impressed one and all in the recent WPL season, taking 11 wickets. She was the joint-highest wicket-taker among the Indian bowlers with Shikha Pandey. Her all-round ability with both bat and ball makes her a good addition to the side. Left-arm spinners N. Shree Charani and Shuchi Upadhyay are the two new additions to the side as well.
